5 Day Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Safari

Its only in Uganda where one can hike to within meters of endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees; plot a route the waterways in search of the elusive shoebill bird, hippos and elephant; explore the savannah grasslands teaming with thousands of topi, cob antelope and buffalo; or get to witness Uganda’s legendary tree-climbing lions in the space of five days.

Detailed Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wildlife combined with gorilla tracking makes this short vacation rewarding and exciting. Not forgetting primate viewing and Great Rift Valley sight seeing which are not to be missed. You will be picked from your hotel by our guide and transferred to Queen Elizabeth national park with a stop over in Mbarara for lunch and then proceed to Fort Portal and to Queen Elizabeth. You will get there in the evening. Enroute, get to see various animals during the game drive before sun set.
Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge/ Katara lodge/Kyambura game lodge/Ihamba safari lodge/Simba safari Camp.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat trip

Have your breakfast and the go for an early morning game drive where you get to see lions, elephants, Uganda kobs, antelopes and some other animals. You will get back to lodge for lunch and then proceed to the Kazinga channel for an afternoon boat cruise which will give you a good view of the game and a chance to see some of the water animals like the crocodiles and hippos. You should not miss the good scenery as it’s also relaxing.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Bwindi

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast after which go for Chimpanzee tracking at the Kyambura Gorge. You will have lunch at the lodge and then proceed to Bwindi impenetrable National park for gorilla tracking. You will arrive late in the evening and check into Gorilla forest camp/Buhoma lodge/gorilla resort/engage lodge /Buhoma community bandas for dinner and the overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla tracking expedition and community walk

Early in the morning, have breakfast and also be briefed before starting this exciting though tiring activity. You will then start the gorilla tracking and there’s no set time for the tracking since it all depends on how far the gorillas have moved. In case you finish the tracking early, you will enjoy a guided community walk to the people living around this park and get to interact with them and may also get to enjoy cultural performances from these locals.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Depart Bwindi for Kampala

After break fast, depart for Kampala having lunch enroute at Mbarara. Proceed and stop over at the equator where you will get a chance to stand on both hemispheres and then at crafts village for a chance to get yourself a locally made drum.
Proceed on your journey to Kampala arriving in the late in the evening for Dinner and overnight.
