7 Days Mount Kenya, Lake Nakuru, Naivasha & Maasai Mara

From Mountain Kenya to the great Right valley plains of Masai Mara, Nakuru and Naivasha will sum up the true nature and beauty of the great Kenya wildlife as survival for the fittest takes its toll on the wild as the fastest you run determines you will see the next sunrise again. The Big Five and nature predators devouring their prey with no mercy is epic to watch not forgetting the great mara migration.

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Nairobi – Mount Kenya National Park

Past Breakfast, depart for Mount Kenya arriving at Mountain Lodge Serena on time for lunch. Afternoon leisure game viewing from the lodge as animals come to drink at the lodge’s floodlit waterhole. The only ‘tree hotel’ ever to be built on the slopes of Kenya’s legendary Mount Kenya, Mountain Lodge offers a matchless game viewing opportunity at the same time combining a magnificent panorama of mountain vistas with the prehistoric splendors of an ancient rain forest. It’s optional to take a nature walk. Dinner and overnight stay at Serena Mountain Lodge.

Day 2: Mount Kenya to Sweet waters Game Sanctuary

After Breakfast, drive further north through the Equator to this private game sanctuary situated in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the sanctuary is populated by zebras, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, elephants and other small animals. In addition, Sweet waters is home to the only Chimpanzee sanctuary in the country. After lunch you will take a game drive around the sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at Sweet waters Tented Camp.

Day 3: Sweetwaters – Lake Nakuru

Have an early breakfast and depart for Lake Nakuru driving through the Great Rift Valley, which incidentally, begins beyond the northern frontier of Israel and ends in Central Mozambique. The Rift Valley contains several lakes including Lake Nakuru where we will head, arriving in time for lunch. Past lunch, take an afternoon game drive and visit the Rhino Sanctuary within the reserve. Expect to see the millions of Pink flamingoes that form a pink coverlet at the shores of Lake Nakuru plus many other species of birds including the Grey-crested Helmet-shrike and the colourful Rupell’s long tailed Starlings. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Naivasha

Past breakfast, visit the Hyrax Hill, a seasonal settlement for prehistoric people dating back at least 3,000 years, situated about 4.5km away from Lake Nakuru. The site provides scenery of lifestyles and achievements of our distant ancestors with its well preserved and laid out exhibits. Proceed to Lake Naivasha, the only fresh water lake in the Rift Valley and also an important Birding area. Take a lunch break at Elsamere Educational center. It is a haven for nature lovers, set on the banks of Lake Naivasha and its educational center focuses on lake ecology and environmental awareness programs. After lunch, go for an evening boat ride on Lake Naivasha. Dinner and overnight at Mount Rock camp-site.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara

Have an early morning breakfast before departing for the world’s famous Masai Mara Game Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Masai Mara National Reserve is a pristine wilderness of haunting beauty, it promises its visitors a profusion of wildlife, prolific bird life and an exceptional opportunity of catching up with all the members of the ‘Big Five’.  After lunch, take an evening game drive across the terrain through which thousands of wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, gazelle and other herbivores migrate annually in search of water and grazing land, pursued closely by predators such as lions, hyenas and cheetahs. High chances of spotting all the “big five” in addition to the numerous smaller animals that have their home here. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Safari Lodge/ Mara Serena Lodge.

Day 6: Masai Mara

Following breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the Masai Mara followed by an afternoon game drive. Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge/ Mara Serena Lodge.
Optional activities Include;
1. Hot Air Balloon safari
2. Visit to a local Maasai village
3. Nature walks
4. Day fishing expedition to Lake Victoria

Day 7: Masai Mara – Nairobi

Go for an early morning game drive after which have a leisurely breakfast before setting off for Nairobi where you will arrive on time to catch your flight back home or drop off at your hotel/lodge.
