12 Days Kenya & Tanzania wildlife safari

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival
Arrival and pick up at Nairobi International Airport by our company representative transfer to your hotel. Freshen up and relax around your hotel or Lodge. Dinner and Overnight at Stanley Hotel.

Day 2: Nairobi – Aberdare National Park
After breakfast, depart Nairobi for Nyeri arriving in the afternoon on time for lunch. After lunch, go for a game drive in the rich Aberdares Mountain forest. Expect to see Elephants, Rhinos, Leopards bush bucks and other game. Dinner and Overnight at The Ark.

Day 3: Aberdare – Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, proceed to Lake Nakuru arriving in time for lunch. After lunch go for a game drive around Lake Nakuru one of the Rift Valley soda lakes famous for its numerous numbers of flamingo’s nesting along the shores. The surface of the shallow lake is often hardly recognizable due to the continually shifting mass of pink. The number of flamingo’s on the lake varies with water and food conditions and the best vantage point is from Baboon Rocks. Also of interest, an area of 188 km around the lake fenced off as a sanctuary to protect Rothschild giraffe and black rhinos. Dinner and Overnight at Lion Hill Lodge.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara
Past breakfast, proceed to Lake Naivasha for a boat trip on Lake Naivasha. Expect to see hippos socializing lazily in the shallow waters or hiding in dense papyrus forest. Go for a lunch break at Elsamere, a haven for lovers of nature, set in Acacia forest on the banks of Lake Naivasha. It is the former home of the late Joy Adamson who together with her husband George, became world famous for their pioneering conservation work and relationship with lioness Elsa, as told in her best selling book ‘Born Free’. After lunch, proceed to Masai Mara with a game drive enroute. Expect to see birds, herds of Antelopes, Zebra, giraffe, Elephants, gazelle plus many others. A chance to visit a Masai local village (Manyata) and take some photos of the Masai with their cultural attires. In the afternoon, go for a game drive with high chances of seeing the ‘Big five’. Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge.

Day 5: Masai Mara
After breakfast, prepare for a full day game. Visit the famous Mara River to see the various kinds of flora and fauna. Picnic lunch in the bush. Depending on the time of year, you have great chances of experiencing the ‘Great Wildebeest Migration’. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Safari Lodge/ Mara Serena Lodge.

Day 6: Masai Mara – Isebania and Lake Victoria
Get up early for a morning game drive in Masai Mara before returning to your Hotel or Lodge for breakfast. Proceed to Isebania for Border crossing into Tanzania. After visa and border procedures drive along the lake shore to Musoma one of the major towns on Lake Victoria, in Musoma we go aboard a speedboat to an Island on Lake Victoria and to a private Island retreat, the Lukuba Island Lodge. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and possibly swim in the warm waters of Lake Victoria. Dinner and overnight at Lukuba Island Lodge.

Day 7: Lake Victoria – Serengeti
Past breakfast, take a boat trip on Lake Victoria and then proceed towards Ndabaka Gate and enter the Serengeti through the Western Corridor. Pass through green Savannah with Elephants and Giraffes roaming around through a stretch of land which is rarely visited by travelers. The name Serengeti comes from the Masai word “Siringet” referring to an endless plain. Dinner and Overnight at Mapito Camp Serengeti.

Day 8: Serengeti
Have your breakfast and prepare to spend the day at Serengeti National Park with morning and afternoon game drives. Have a lunch break at the lodge and then continue exploring this large park, which is enjoined to the Masai Mara. Depending on the time of year, you have great chances of encountering the great wildebeest migration on its way to Masai Mara. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Mapito Camp Serengeti.

Day 9: Serengeti, Olduvai Gorge and Ngorongoro
Past breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater one of the natural wonders of the world, home to hundreds and thousands of plain animals. Arrive in time for lunch after which go for an afternoon game drive in the outstandingly formed crater. Expect to see buffaloes, elephants and different species of monkeys. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge/Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge/Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.

Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, go in a 4X4 wheel drive vehicle down the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day crater tour. Enjoy the classic experience of a safari game drive on the floor of this scenic crater, the world’s largest caldera. Expect to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes. The Crater is also home to the rare black rhino almost extinct in Tanzania. Have a picnic lunch on the crater floor before retiring to the Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge/Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge/ Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.

Day 11:
Pack breakfast set off for Lake Manyara, arrives at the lodge on time for lunch and go for the afternoon game drive in this very scenic park with fabulous views over the valley to the lake below. Expect to see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and abundant wildlife.

Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge/ Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge.

Day 12: L.Manyara – Arusha/Kilimanjaro Airport
Have a leisurely breakfast and then drive to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight home.
