In the heart of central Africa is a rich green forest found North West of Rwanda is a home to mountain gorillas shared with Uganda and DR Congo. Back in the ancient, the number of mountain Gorillas was too low due to illness, poaching and human violation although the number is now increasing to around 900 mountain gorillas in the three countries Rwanda, Congo & Uganda boosting tourism as well as the economy. However today Gorillas attract 100s of tourists every day in different locations for Gorilla tracking trips to Volcanoes national park, Bwindi impenetrable forest, Mgahinga national park & Virunga national park. Africa

Conservation is a main concern of all the Africa Gorilla parks with a strict rule of only Eight individuals with are allowed to visit particular Gorilla family with a full observation one hour & photography. Gorilla permits in Uganda cost 600$ for all months of the year and 350$ for the months of April, May & November though the prices are subjected to change with change of park tariff for the coming year.
Rwanda Gorilla permits go for 750$ and 20% of the total revenue is given back to communities in hospitals, schools and other conservation community projects.

It’s good to track Gorillas twice in both Uganda and Rwanda and experience the beauty of two different forests an opportunity which one shouldn’t miss if resources permit.
The hikes and nature walks are wonderful and interesting though some how tough during the rainy season. Get a chance to hike through the forest to the deep Sabyinyo Gorge a massive gash in the edge of Mount Sabinyo. This is best place for bird watchers and Gorilla lovers since you can have a good birding opportunity to Rugezi swamp one of Uganda’s best birding site.

Also exhilarating trek through the cultivated foot hills of the Virungas offers stirring views in all directions. Abruptly the trail enters the national park, immersing trekkers in the mysterious intimacy of the rain forest, alive with the call of colorful birds and chattering of the rare golden monkey and littered with fresh spoor of the mountains exclusive populations of buffalo and elephant. Gaps in the rain forest canopy are magnificent peak glimpse easily accessible and among the highest in Africa.

Gorillas share 97% of their genes with mankind and they move in troops of 5-40 animals comprising the silver-back (the head), wives and several babies. Despite Gorillas being moving animals, they indeed spend most of the time moving but sleep in trees each building itself a temporary nest for just a night.
